Basic Common Sense | Pro-Russia or Love China? Now You Can See Hu Xijin’s True Feelings

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, some people represented by Hu Xijin and Sima Nan firmly supported Russia’s “special military operation,” and a sharp confrontation between “supporting Russia” and “supporting Ukraine” has also emerged in the Chinese public opinion field.

Because Russia is the country that has occupied and divided the most Chinese territory in modern times (not one of them), and in recent years, there have been repeated incidents on the Chinese Internet celebrating the founding of Vladivostok (called Haishenwai in China) and other malicious events that have hurt the feelings of the Chinese people, the pro-Russian faction has been questioned on a moral level.

But the pro-Russian faction has always considered themselves sober realists, and they mainly have two reasons:

1. Although there are some historical problems between China and Russia, the main problem facing China’s development at present is the comprehensive suppression by the United States and its allies, which is the main contradiction at present. The Russia-Ukraine war has greatly restrained the military forces of the United States and Europe, and has won valuable development time for China, so we should support Russia.

2. Russia is sanctioned by Western countries because of the war, and is more dependent on China economically. For example, Russia has become China’s largest overseas market for electric vehicles. The continuation of the war and the confrontation between Russia and Europe and the United States are conducive to China’s economic development and the revitalization of the old industrial base in Northeast China.

Today’s article does not comment on whether these two points are reasonable. Let’s just talk about a “sincerity”:

Hu Xijin, and those who support Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war under the banner of the above two points, are they truly in love with Russia or China?

Recently, a series of statements and actions by Trump after taking office to woo Russia can just test the sincerity of the pro-Russian faction in China.

Russia has the hope of reconciliation with the United States, and may even join the G7 group, which has always been considered to suppress China. Hu Xijin and others cheered “Russia has made it through!”

Yes, if Trump’s current series of statements can really be implemented, if Russia can really keep the Ukrainian territory it has occupied for three years, and really return to the G7 group, then Russia has really made it through.

Russia has made it through and has a good relationship with the United States, what about China?

According to their logic of “supporting Russia can restrain the United States” in the Russia-Ukraine war, Russia will soon make it through, and the United States will have time to deal with China, right? China should be unlucky, right? Then what are Hu Xijin and others cheering for?

It seems that some people are only insincere to their Chinese compatriots, and only President Putin is truly sincere.

Let’s talk about the issue of the Russia-Ukraine war. Is it beneficial or harmful to China for Russia to continue its conflict with Western countries because of the Russia-Ukraine war?

Hu Xijin’s latest view is: The Russian war in Ukraine has increased friction between the West and China, and the conflict between Russia and the West has brought many diplomatic disputes to China.

This is very strange! Since the Russia-Ukraine war will bring so much friction and disputes to China, when Russia launched the war, why did you, Hu Xijin, stand at the forefront of public opinion to express your support? Could it be that the pro-Russian Hu Xijin and others hope that China will have more friction with the West and more diplomatic disputes?

As a Chinese who loves the motherland, I really can’t stand this kind of behavior of selling China and being pro-Russian.

There have always been rumors online that Hu Xijin is a fence-sitter who changes his stance with the wind, which is inaccurate. Hu Xijin is only a fence-sitter when discussing domestic affairs. When discussing the international situation, his stance has always been firmly on the side of Russia.
