According to media reports, consumers in Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Anhui and other places have successfully purchased the above-mentioned products in pharmacies by swiping their medical insurance cards, with prices of 3088 yuan or 3188 yuan, while the official channel price of the product outside the pharmacy is 2988 yuan.
According to the English-Chinese Dictionary, the Chinese meaning of the word WATCH is ‘watch’. According to the e-commerce details page of Huawei WATCH D2, in addition to the blood pressure measurement function, the product also has Bluetooth calls, NFC and other functions. According to on-site tests, the product also has the functions of receiving WeChat messages, WeChat payment, Alipay payment, etc.
When responding to media interviews, staff from the National Healthcare Security Administration stated that products registered as Class II medical devices can indeed be paid for through personal medical insurance accounts, depending on local regulations.
According to Red Star News, the Ningbo Medical Insurance Bureau has temporarily stopped paying for Huawei WATCH D2 through medical insurance. Staff from the Ningbo Medical Insurance Bureau said: “Because this watch has many additional functions, these additional functions are not used for medical purposes.”
Urban and rural employee medical insurance is divided into a comprehensive account and a personal account, both of which are important components of the national medical insurance fund. Purchasing medical device products by swiping medical insurance cards is paid for by the personal account of the medical insurance fund, but it does not belong to the reimbursement of medical insurance.
According to the current management regulations of the National Healthcare Security Administration, personal medical insurance accounts can be used to pay for medical expenses incurred in designated medical institutions or designated retail pharmacies that meet the scope of basic medical insurance drug catalog, diagnosis and treatment project scope, and medical service facility standards, and are prohibited from being used for other consumption expenditures outside of medical security.
On February 8, I found on a certain treasure that the retail price of a wrist electronic blood pressure monitor produced by a well-known medical device manufacturer was 159 yuan per piece, and the product was registered as a Class II medical device.
On the afternoon of February 8, I consulted and tried the WATCH D2 at a Huawei official store in a certain shopping mall. With the help of the staff throughout the process, I wore and used the product to measure the blood pressure of my left wrist three times (including one time with the wrist suspended in a standing position and two times with the wrist placed flat on the table in a sitting position, both operated by the staff). The results all showed abnormal readings (compared to my physical examination results) and prompted “Improper posture, please remeasure”.
Because I was not satisfied with the trial effect, I did not purchase the product.
In addition, according to media reports, in the tenth batch of medical insurance drug collection in 2024, the lowest winning bid price for aspirin enteric-coated tablets was 0.034 yuan/tablet. The National Healthcare Security Administration stated that previous drug collections have saved a large amount of expenditure for the medical insurance fund.
Purchasing a Huawei wrist dynamic blood pressure recorder by swiping a medical insurance card, the personal account expenditure of the national medical insurance fund exceeds 3,000 yuan.
