The third time he coaxed me
Suspected of malicious intent

Generally speaking, people shouldn’t speak too definitively. For example, add “strive” or “try” before a judgment.
But for Professor Lin Yifu, who has been retreating, he is now in a corner, and he doesn’t have much time left, whether he adds it or not.
Because he used a word prohibited by advertising law, “latest”:

Today is December 12, 2024, and the individual pension system is being rolled out nationwide starting today. This means that the original pension, or a certain promise, is at least limping, so this matter is urgent. I was also forced by the bank to open an account, but I haven’t saved a penny in it.
In those days, a South Korean water conservancy expert named Zheng Guo came to Qin and built the Zheng Guo Canal, which benefited Qin.
In those days, a Lin Yifu swam over from the other side, holding a basketball, and devoted himself to the modernization of this side.
As a respected economic policy think tank who has abandoned darkness and embraced light, if Lin Yifu’s words are all in vain, then who can we still trust?
Today is December 12, 2024, and there are 19 days left until Professor Lin Yifu’s predicted “latest” time to become a high-income country.
It’s exciting to think about.
Since he first proposed the exact date for us to enter the “high-income stage” in 2015, I have been filled with 9 years of optimistic and upward atmosphere.
After all, he is not a person like Weiwei who talks nonsense, he is not ordinary.
In 2015, he said that in 5 years, that is, in 2020, our country might become a high-income country.

As a result, in 2020, we successfully achieved comprehensive poverty alleviation.
This is Lin Yifu’s first consolation to the people.
Of course, there are many people who are as optimistic as Lin Yifu. For example, Professor Zheng, a researcher at the Center for Chinese Characteristics Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and director of the American Institute, gave another time point on June 12, 2016: in another six or seven years, that is, by 2024, our country will cross the “middle-income trap” and enter the ranks of high-income countries, and there is not much suspense.

The prediction in this article is very methodical:
- The first stage is the low-income stage (1978-1998). During this period, our country’s per capita gross national income increased from $190 to $820.
- The second stage is the lower-middle-income stage (1999-2009). Foreign trade, mainly exporting labor-intensive products, became an important growth engine, and foreign exchange reserves increased by more than a dozen times; the investment rate remained high; real estate became the pillar industry of the national economy.
- The third stage is the upper-middle-income stage (around 2010-2023). Promoting supply-side structural reforms is the “lifeline” to ensure high economic growth and cross the “middle-income trap”.
- The fourth stage is the high-income stage (expected to start around 2024).
I believed it, and I believe many people believed it.
As a result, “Shandong sells the sky, Liaoning sells space, the whole country sells the future, and the lack of money has set the leaders’ imagination free“.
Of course, since it is a prediction, there are always preconditions, such as no subversive errors.
Fortunately, Professor Lin changed his face quickly and soon consoled the people for the second time, giving the third time point: 2025.

Some predictions, because the time is too close, are very likely to be set in stone and lack appeal. But the bad thing is that in 2022, predicting 2025, such a close time, is he going to console the people for the third time?
Because, during this year’s two sessions, he gave another time point: 2026!

Set it so close again?
Fortunately, this time he didn’t change his words, and he also learned a lesson and didn’t say it definitively, but reserved some space. His original words were, “If 2025 is not achieved (to become a high-income country)”, then 2026 “is expected”.
Why does it feel like the confidence is getting weaker and weaker?
Who can tell me who made Professor Lin Yifu learn from the Russian Federation and draw red lines, repeatedly resetting the DDL?
