How should Zhengzhou’s universities manage students who are not allowed to ride bicycles?
In the view of some schools, this is very simple: just keep the students locked in the school. Anyway, they are very experienced in managing schools by closing them off and prohibiting students from entering or leaving, which can be said to be superb.
For example, Henan Institute of Engineering decisively implemented a temporary exit permit system:
All students are not allowed to leave the school unless necessary. Those who need to leave the school due to urgent and special reasons must apply and, after approval, can leave the school gate only with a temporary exit permit.

First, let’s talk about authenticity verification.
At first, when I saw this picture, I was wondering if it was PS, especially the small words “Zhixing One-Stop Community” under the school seal, and I thought it was a prank by a website.
As a result, I searched and found that this “Zhixing One-Stop Community” is a comprehensive student management model that Henan Institute of Engineering is vigorously promoting.

According to the official propaganda of Henan Institute of Engineering, the “one-stop” student community comprehensive management model reform is an innovative measure of the school, aiming to create a “co-learning, co-living, co-enjoying, and co-beautifying” sunshine community with “Hengong” characteristics, reflecting the requirements of ideological and political education, and highlighting the advantages of integration.
Therefore, the above-mentioned temporary exit permit is printed in the name of “Zhixing One-Stop Community” by Henan Institute of Engineering, which can reflect the seriousness of the school’s control policy and can also well isolate the risks of the school leaders:
When nothing goes wrong, this seal is the school’s requirement, and everyone must strictly abide by it; once there is a deviation in public opinion, it is a voluntary management plan of the self-governing community of teachers and students, and it has nothing to do with the school leaders.
It’s so high that you can attack or retreat! Is such a clever control method really an innovation of Henan Institute of Engineering? I don’t think so.
The consistent control idea
Seeing this photo of the temporary exit permit, I believe that many people’s first reaction is the same as mine:
Wow! It’s back!
Yes, the memory is instantly pulled back to 2022. People living on this land are too familiar with temporary exit permits and other closed/release certificates.
A building, a community, a street, a city, and even the entire province can be completely sealed off within a day. What determines whether you and I can go out can be the seal of the community, the security guard’s code scanning, a notice from the street, or a notice from the municipal government.
On the one hand, it is for our own good to lock us up, because there are terrible viruses outside, and there are terrible traffic safety risks when riding at night; on the other hand, not going out is a decision made by everyone “voluntarily and autonomously”, not a mandatory one by the leaders.
Two years later, many people have already forgotten or been “cleared” of the memories of that time, but the leaders who hold the power to decide whether to go out have never forgotten. On the contrary, they have actively and seriously summarized the relevant experience, and can revive the control experience accumulated in those three years at any time when needed.
The reason is also very simple:
That set is too! Good!! Use!!! It!!!!
This is just the most basic lockdown of the campus to avoid a large number of students going out, and a temporary exit permit plus a WeChat group report is enough. If they need to be stricter, they can create a “riding code” at any time, and anyone who has scanned a shared bicycle within 48 hours will be given a red code, and they will line up at the dormitory building to scan their faces every day to confirm that they are still in school. Even stricter, the school is fully capable of building a circle of iron walls for hard isolation within 24 hours…
The only key question that is intentionally or unintentionally ignored is:
Why?
Of course, the most powerful thing is that they don’t need to answer this question, or they only need to come up with a universal answer:
For your own good.
Deep fear
Historically, the “progress” of human social management technology has mainly benefited from two types of scenarios:
One is war, and the other is stability maintenance.
Once a new technical means is proven to be efficient and easy to use, it will be quickly summarized and solidified to add bricks and tiles for aggression and control.
The temporary exit permit, which is just a small matter, has aroused great fear deep in my memory.
Do you understand me?
