Shanghai Supermarket Bloodbath: The Reasons Behind It Are Heartbreaking
In this festive atmosphere that should have been filled with laughter and joy, a shocking bloodbath occurred in a supermarket in Shanghai.
A man wielding a knife frantically slashed 18 people in the supermarket, of whom 3 unfortunately died, and others with serious injuries are still receiving treatment in the hospital.
This incident not only brought endless pain to the victims and their families, but also triggered deep reflection across all sectors of society on public safety and the reasons behind individual extreme behavior.
According to the notice issued by the Songjiang Branch of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau, this bloodbath occurred at 21:47 on the evening of September 30, 2024.
At the time, the Songjiang Public Security Bureau received a report that someone was injuring people with a knife in a supermarket on Songhui Middle Road.
The police quickly dispatched and arrested the suspect, Lin Moumou (male, 37 years old), on the spot, and urgently sent the injured to the hospital for treatment.
However, despite the medical staff’s full efforts to rescue them, 3 of the injured died due to their serious injuries, while the remaining injured fortunately survived.
The notice also revealed that Lin Moumou chose to come to Shanghai to commit this extreme act due to personal economic disputes.
So, what kind of economic disputes did this man, who is in his prime, encounter that led him down this path of no return?
According to some unofficial sources, Lin Moumou’s experience is indeed heartbreaking.
He went to Hangzhou to work in 2010 and met Chen Moumou in 2012, and began working on Chen Moumou’s construction site as a shelf worker.
However, starting in 2015, Chen Moumou owed Lin Moumou more than 30,000 yuan in wages, and although Lin Moumou asked for it many times, Chen Moumou always used various reasons to evade it.
In order to get back his hard-earned money, Lin Moumou pursued the debt from 2015 to this year.
During this period, he tried to contact Chen Moumou many times, but the other party was always elusive.
Until recently, Lin Moumou learned that Chen Moumou had registered a company in Shanghai, so he came to Shanghai by train with great hope.
However, when he arrived in Shanghai, he could not find the specific registered address of the company, and could only wander the streets, and he didn’t even have money to stay in a hotel at night, so he could only sleep on the streets.
On September 10, Lin Moumou contacted Chen Moumou again through WeChat, but the other party still had no intention of paying back the money.
Lin Moumou, who was in a difficult situation, had to sell his mobile phone to get food.
However, as life became more and more difficult, he finally came up with the idea of revenge on society.
On the day of the incident, September 30, he chose Walmart supermarket, which had the largest flow of people, as the place to commit the crime, and committed this cruel act with two knives.
Although these statements have not yet been officially confirmed, they are enough for us to have a preliminary understanding of the reasons behind this bloodbath.
Lin Moumou’s experience is undoubtedly a tragedy, and he went to his death because he could not get his wages.
