The road of life is long
But the crucial points are often only a few steps

The fatal consequence may have been determined from the day Shen Yongqin (pseudonym) decided to leave Shanghai and return to her hometown in the countryside.
The incident happened at 5 p.m. In the village committee office of Jiuxi Village, Wangbao Town, Qidong, Nantong, other colleagues had already left work, and only Shen Yongqin, who had only worked for a year, was still working overtime.
Her mother was waiting for her to come home for dinner, and the workload of overtime should not be small.
But the appearance of one person shattered this pastoral dream of work.
The visitor was Zhao, a bachelor in his 50s from the village.
Previously, Zhao’s minimum living allowance was cancelled because his savings met the standard. Zhao repeatedly went to the village committee to seek an explanation, and this time only Shen Yongqin faced him.
We don’t know what kind of intersection they had, but the result was that Zhao stabbed Shen Yongqin in the abdomen, causing her to die on the spot.

The horror of this incident lies in the fact that, unlike the previous killings of high-ranking officials such as the chairman of the CPPCC and the director of the finance department, or those who offended others, a grid member who had only worked for a year could not possibly have any conflicts of interest.
If there must be, it’s just some verbal conflicts at most.
The result was five steps of blood.
It can be said that she was very unfortunately paying the price with her life for the current tense finances and the relationship that could be ignited at any moment.

She was once a “ambitious person” who ventured into Shanghai.
Three years ago, Shen Yongqin graduated from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics.
As a girl from southern Jiangsu, compared to many classmates, her family background should be better than those from other provinces or northern Jiangsu, but slightly worse than the local children.
Judging from her career choices, she should be a striving child. Compared to those who passed the civil service exam, avoided employment in the name of studying for a master’s degree, got married early, or even relied on their parents, this is already a rare quality.
This point, judging from the fact that she was killed while working overtime as a grid member in the village, and that she worked with her computer when visiting relatives, if she had considerable support, she could have been the best among her peers.
Judging from her decision to work in Shanghai, she also had high expectations for herself.
Ambition and action, she possessed both. But for a young person to settle down in a big city like Shanghai, the support of ability and basic conditions are rigid conditions.
In 2021, affected by the pandemic, many companies reduced their recruitment plans, but she was still able to find a job in Shanghai, which is full of strong competitors, indicating that her ability was not bad.
The rest is family support.
We found an obvious phenomenon during recruitment: children from developed areas pay more attention to the future development space of the job; while children from less developed areas pay more attention to the current salary income.
And whether they can accept delayed gratification is an essential factor in whether they can obtain “investment returns.” Therefore, children from developed areas can obtain high returns in the future with a temporary low salary, while children from poor families, because they cannot solve the current problems, are unable to invest even in the face of high returns in the future, and can only give up.
According to relevant data, the average monthly salary of undergraduate graduates in Shanghai in 2021 was 5,800 yuan.
It is conceivable that Shen Yongqin’s life in Shanghai would not be too affluent. Even if she shared an apartment in the suburbs, the price of a bedroom would be over a thousand. Coupled with the needs of social interaction and shopping, she might not be able to save much each month.
To settle down in Shanghai, buying a house and obtaining a household registration, these goals seem out of reach.
And her parents in the village could hardly provide her with financial support, help her through the years from graduation to entering the workplace, let alone let her live a decent life.
Judging from the photos circulating in the media, Shen’s family didn’t even live in a building, and her father worked outside, which shows that her family was not wealthy.

It seems like a conflict between officials and the people, but in fact, her situation is not much better than the murderer’s.

It is conceivable what kind of changes in mentality a child who has just left school and is full of ambition will experience when facing the reality gap.
According to common sense, she may have some dissatisfaction with her income and other aspects. In addition, this generation generally has a strong sense of national pride, and the setbacks in the workplace will also make them disheartened.
If the college students born in the 1970s and 1980s would try to improve themselves to overcome difficulties, the common choice of this generation of children is to give up directly and seek another way out.
Even if she was full of ambition at the beginning, the communication with her peers in normal times will definitely affect her mental stability.
So after working in Shanghai for a year, she chose to return to her hometown.
It can be said that she returned in defeat.

The system of grid members’ fate
The spiritual homeland of the Chinese people is one hometown and the other is the system.
After encountering setbacks in big cities, returning to their hometown and entering the system, “going home to find mom,” is almost the pursuit of all young people. Entering the system of their hometown is a double return to their hometown, and only then will they have a sense of absolute security.
In the words of her father, who later accepted an interview with the media: “She was not used to being alone in Shanghai, and she was far away from her family, so she came back later.”
Returning to her hometown and entering the system, first, it proves that she didn’t study in vain, and second, there are actually no decent job opportunities in the county and township.
Similarly, the jobs that the enterprises in the countryside can provide her are less decent than those in Shanghai.
Now it is impossible to know what Shen Yongqin experienced in Shanghai, but this is definitely a story of a broken dream.
The ending of the story is like what many people advise girls to say when they return to their hometown, you are too tired to be alone outside, go back to your parents, someone will take care of you, you will have hot meals when you go home, and then find a local person to marry, and you can live a stable life.
Qidong is located in Nantong, although it does not belong to southern Jiangsu, it is also one of the richest areas in the Yangtze River Delta. But this place is a typical example of family planning in the country, and its aging is 17 years ahead of the national average and 4 years ahead of the provincial average. The latest data shows that the population over 60 years old in this city has exceeded 30%.
This is a place where you can’t see young people.
To put it bluntly, from the perspective of a bystander, working in the most basic community work in such a place, the future prospects will not be much better.
But her and her family’s feelings are completely different. Although she failed to make a name for herself in the big city, whose child has made a name for themselves? This is not shameful.
Therefore, when she got a job as a grid member last April, she should have been satisfied. To some extent, she would value the value of this job more, so she would work tirelessly, and when visiting relatives, she would dislike the children’s noise and simply hide in another room to work overtime.
At the end of the year, Shen Yongqin, who had been employed for less than a year, was rated as an “advanced individual.”
If she develops normally, with her down-to-earth and hardworking character, she will be a stable cog in the position.

And her family will also benefit from her, this “person in the court,” and gain various benefits in terms of face and substance.

The cost of “dimensional reduction attack”
When I was writing family history, I met many people who either missed their hometown or were invited back to their hometown to invest and start businesses, and as a result, they were cheated to the point where they didn’t even have bones left.
Those who have worked outside do have the advantage of “dimensional reduction attack” when they return to their hometown. But there is a reason why a place has not developed, and it is not just a lack of capital and technology. Sometimes, the institutional advantage is the fundamental.
For Shen Yongqin, returning to her hometown to be a grid member was a dimensional reduction attack. Even those forms, the cadres in the village couldn’t handle them at all, and she, a graduate of finance and economics, just happened to be able to put her skills to use.
Everything is in full swing and flourishing.
Finance is not a water pipe that never stops flowing. In the current situation, the upstream has already turned on a faucet, and the water that was originally a line has become drops of water, and the people below are crowded with their mouths open waiting for water to drink.
Zhao, who had his minimum living allowance cancelled, was the person waiting for water.
Maybe it’s only 600 yuan a month, but that’s all he has, his dignity, worth a single man in his 50s fighting for his life!
Maybe Shen Yongqin’s salary was only 3,000 yuan, but the power relationship between the two parties was not equal. Just like the security guard of the community, he cannot dare to roar at the wealthy owners.
The solemn commitment of “no one can be left behind on the road to modernization, and no country can fall behind” also, to some extent, raised the appetite of the parties involved.
A paradox is that grid members were originally supposed to investigate and prevent unstable factors.
It is obvious that because of the previous conflict, Zhao had already been included in the list of prevention objects. But what was the result? Not only was he not prevented, but even the grid member in charge of defense was killed.
The world is so ironic!
In fact, the places in China where women have the highest status and the best protection of rights are the developed areas and big cities. When female college students return to the countryside for a dimensional reduction attack, their careers, income, and even marriage will also fall into the abyss.
If you learn more about the exploitation of women by the Brahmins in the county towns, it is really shocking.
As the old saying goes, the road of life is long, but the crucial points are often only a few steps.
Many girls, when they were young, carried their dreams and went to big cities to work hard, wanting to make a name for themselves. But perhaps because of the high cost of living, limited development, and a confused future, some girls eventually returned to the small county towns in their hometowns, close to their parents, and sought a stable and comfortable life.
But this seemingly superior choice is actually a dead end.
I think, if everything could start over, she would stay in Shanghai, even if it was hard and difficult, at least her life would still be there.
But if we were placed in that situation, a rural female college student without family support, it is hard to say that she would have a better choice.
Because, poverty will limit our horizons and cognition. Some truths that everyone understands may have never been told to them…
Shen Yongqin, just made the same choice as many of her peers, not at all typical.
Human adventure begins from birth.
I have written so many family histories, and I have found that many successful families, their ancestors were either scholars, gentlemen, or entrepreneurs and landlords.
Or, ordinary families suddenly rise up in a generation, and achieve class ascension through reading and other means to change their fate.
Also, for every 6.5 people in Zhejiang, there is a boss, Shandong and Hunan often produce generals, and the whole clan grows and flourishes.
Why?
Everyone is a child of the earth, the soul of the family, and if you want to know yourself and enlighten future generations, you must first trace the deeds of your ancestors and understand the customs of your hometown.
Whether in Europe and America, or in Australia, which has only been established for more than 200 years, children first learn family history and then national history when they go to school.
