[Zhou Liqun, President of the China General Chamber of Commerce in Russia, said in an interview with Sputnik during the Eastern Economic Forum that the negotiations between Russia and China on payment issues will yield results in the near future.]
Zhou Liqun pointed out that sanctions have hindered payments in Sino-Russian trade.
He said: “But with the participation of experts and platforms, the governments of the two countries have conducted negotiations. Obviously, there will be results soon. The issue of mutual settlement should not hinder the growth of the trade volume between the two countries.”
He said that there are already “acceptable solutions”. Zhou Liqun said, “In addition, the possibility of barter trade is being studied,” he reminded that Russia and China both have experience in barter trade in mutual settlements.
He said: “It is necessary to establish appropriate platforms, including those on the Russian side, and to establish links with banks that do not have much business in the West, which can work calmly without the risk of being sanctioned. We need to try. All methods that can bring benefits should be utilized.”
