Hello everyone, I am Tan Qindong.
Recently, I sat at a table with some old friends, and the topic inadvertently turned to the days when I was in trouble in 2018. “Do you remember the article you wrote criticizing the medicinal liquor? It only had a little over two thousand views, and you only had five followers.” An old friend laughed, “At that time, none of us expected that such a small stir could cause such a big wave.”
I couldn’t help but smile wryly. Yes, that article, now that I think about it, was more like a casual joke of fate. Just as I was about to speak, another old friend, with a complex look in his eyes, slowly said, “Actually, there are some details behind your incident that you may not know.”
Everyone’s eyes instantly focused on him, and a subtle atmosphere permeated the air. He paused and continued, “It was actually that female alumna from Shijiazhuang in your circle of friends who reported your article. I also found it incredible at the time, after all, we are all alumni and should have supported each other.”
Upon hearing this, my heart was shaken. That memory was like a sealed past suddenly being opened, with a hint of bitterness and incomprehension. So, the story behind it was like this.
“Yes,” a friend sighed, “After your incident, many of our alumni friends gathered together to find ways to help you. But she kept doing all sorts of bad things, as if she couldn’t wait for you to be even more unlucky. Later, a senior media person told me that she regarded your article as a ‘small report’ and directly reported it to the medicinal liquor side.”
Speaking of this, the atmosphere of the conversation seemed to freeze, and each of us fell into deep thought. Looking out the window, my heart was filled with mixed feelings. Sometimes, the grudges and love affairs between people can be so subtle and complex. An article, five followers, but enough to set off an unexpected storm… Behind this, it reflects not only the complexity of human nature, but also the true portrayal of the dark side of the informer.
Informers often hide among the crowd. They may be our friends, colleagues, or even classmates. They, in a seemingly righteous posture, actually harbor ulterior motives, reporting the privacy, secrets, or opinions of others to relevant personnel. Their actions are like a blade in the dark night, silent but sharp, piercing the heart.
Why does everyone hate informers? Because the informer’s behavior touches the most basic bottom line of human nature—trust and respect. In interpersonal relationships, trust is the cornerstone, and respect is the bond. But informers betray trust and trample on respect to satisfy their own selfish desires or achieve certain goals. This behavior is undoubtedly a great desecration of human nature.
The dark side of informers lies in their inner distortion and division. On the one hand, they enjoy the pleasure of revealing the secrets of others, and on the other hand, they are afraid of being exposed by others. This contradiction and struggle make their humanity distorted, and their behavior becomes more unpredictable and dangerous.
That female alumna from Shijiazhuang may be a typical representative of such an informer. She used reporting my article as a means to achieve her ulterior motives. Her behavior not only put me in a difficult situation, but also created a rift between a group of alumni friends who should have supported each other and advanced together. This destructive power is the most terrifying aspect of informers.
The dark side of informers destroys interpersonal relationships of mutual trust and affects normal social order. In fact, the whole society should advocate an interpersonal relationship based on trust, respect, and understanding. We should also learn to protect ourselves and avoid becoming the next target of informers.
We never thought of harming others, but we have to learn how to guard against people!
Alas!
