On September 3rd, a serious traffic accident occurred at the entrance of Foshan Middle School in Dongping County, Tai’an City, Shandong Province, resulting in a tragic loss of life and injuries to a total of 24 students and parents.
Was such a large number of casualties an accident or a deliberate act? Let’s review that terrifying moment.
In early September, it was the start of the school year for schools at all levels across the country. At around 7 a.m. this morning, at Foshan Middle School in Dongping County, Tai’an City, Shandong Province, a group of energetic children, escorted by their parents, arrived at the entrance, chatting and laughing as they prepared to line up to enter the school.
Suddenly, a coaster bus, like a wild horse that had broken free, unexpectedly charged towards the group of students who were waiting in line at the school entrance.
In a flash, before anyone could react to what was happening, they heard several dull thuds, and saw many children and parents fall to the ground, and in an instant, screams and cries erupted, and the scene was chaotic.
From the videos circulating online, we can clearly see that the vehicle involved in the accident was parked at the entrance, with adults and children lying on the ground, under and behind the vehicle, covered in blood, and the scene was tragic.
What’s even more heartbreaking is that scattered around them were schoolbags, textbooks, and school supplies, silently accusing this unwarranted disaster.
Some survivors struggled to sit up; others stopped breathing on the spot. What is most heartbreaking are those small figures, who were just laughing and playing, and in an instant, they lay quietly on the ground, lifeless; and some were trapped under the vehicle. There is no doubt that after this crushing, they were either dead or seriously injured…
Several parents were crying, holding their blood-covered children. The whole scene was like hell on earth!
Due to the large number of casualties at the scene, ambulances arrived one after another. The entire road was blocked, and the whole street was filled with heart-wrenching ambulance sirens all morning.
The car accident was tragic, and the injured were in serious condition, requiring a large amount of blood transfusions. After the incident, many citizens voluntarily went to the blood donation center to donate blood, and there are currently two blood donation vehicles. The entire city of Tai’an and even the whole country are praying for the safety of the injured. 
As of 11 a.m. this morning, the accident has resulted in 24 injuries, including 11 deaths (6 parents, 5 students), 1 in critical condition, and 12 out of life-threatening danger.
Some local netizens sighed that those who were involved in this incident were all children who had just entered this junior high school from the sixth grade of elementary school! Parents have worked hard to raise them for so many years, and the children have just entered a new school and stepped onto a new stage in their lives. Who would have thought that this long-awaited moment would become the dividing point between them and their parents, how can parents accept it?
Due to the serious nature of this car accident and the unclear motives of the driver, special police were eventually dispatched to control the driver involved.
In addition to the casualties, what netizens are most concerned about at the moment is undoubtedly the cause of this car accident: was it intentional or an accident?
As public opinion surged, the Dongping police quickly issued a police report, which, in addition to the number of casualties, also confirmed that the vehicle involved was a school bus that transported students. In the report, the police used the words ‘out of control’! However, this does not mean anything, because the investigation of the case takes time, and it is impossible to determine the nature so quickly. 
Following the police report, the school also refuted the online claim that ‘the driver had conflicts with teachers and students,’ stating that this situation did not exist!
The accident is serious, and the cause is unknown. Many netizens suspect that this is another extreme case of revenge against society. Although such speculation is somewhat ‘conspiracy theory,’ it is not unreasonable.
First, according to the information from the official video account of Foshan Middle School, there is actually a very wide intersection at the school entrance, with traffic lights, and there are traffic police and auxiliary police on duty during school hours. It is unreasonable for such a major accident to happen with someone directing and coordinating.
Second, the vehicle involved in the accident is a customized bus. The so-called customized bus is a bus that some units customize from the bus company specifically for transporting personnel from their own units. This includes students going to and from school, office workers commuting, and group travel.
We all know that the requirements for bus drivers are different from those for drivers of small cars with seven seats or less. Once an accident occurs, it is a major accident, so those who can drive buses are all ‘old drivers’ with strong psychological qualities and driving skills.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle involved in the accident was traveling so fast that it even broke the trees on the side of the road. One can imagine how great the impact was at that time. It was possible to see a group of children from afar, and the vehicle did not slow down and drove straight towards them. It is hard to believe that this was not intentional!
In the early morning, it is unlikely that the driver was drunk, right?
A well-known blogger also posted an article stating that this kind of customized school bus should not have such a tragedy. 
Third, if it was not the driver’s intention, the remaining reasons are that the vehicle lost control due to a malfunction and the driver suffered a sudden illness!
However, this point is also unreasonable from an emotional point of view. We have also seen news before that bus drivers have fallen ill or been hit by foreign objects during the journey. To ensure the safety of the passengers, they have to endure the pain and drive the car to a safe place… Such experienced drivers, even if they are not so great, but if they feel that the brakes have failed, if they think about it, they would not turn the steering wheel towards the place where there are many people on the sidewalk, right?
Although there is no conclusive evidence to prove that this accident was an act of revenge against society, it is undeniable that in recent years, malicious incidents caused by extreme personal emotions have occurred from time to time. Among them, there are many that target innocent children! Did the driver have the idea of revenge against society due to personal setbacks and excessive psychological pressure?
Whether the driver involved was intentional or unintentional, he is the culprit of this car accident, and no reason can excuse his behavior! He must be severely punished!
The occurrence of every traffic accident is a disrespect for life and a destruction of family happiness. Facing the lessons of this tragic accident, we cannot help but ask: How can we effectively prevent similar accidents from happening again?
First of all, I hope that schools across the country can take this as a warning and strengthen prevention and control measures. For example, during the time period of going to and from school, non-essential vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering the school road, and at the same time, some protective facilities, such as dense stone piers, should be designed at the school entrance to ensure the safety of the children.
Secondly, school bus safety is more important than all vehicle safety, so the requirements for drivers should be stricter. In addition to having good driving skills and emergency handling capabilities, the key is to have good character and healthy social relationships, as well as a healthy psychological state. The requirements in this regard are even more important than technical ability.
I saw a netizen suggesting that school bus drivers must be around 40 years old, married, with children, and have a harmonious family. These conditions seem harsh, but they are not unreasonable.
After all, the Malaysia Airlines MH370 flight is still a deep and difficult-to-solve scar in our hearts.
A media V on the internet said that they hope everyone will not discuss this matter, and also hope that the platform will remove the hot search, because this will hurt the families.
What I want to say is that this is a strange way of thinking. Any social event needs to be seen, only by seeing it can we find the essence of the problem, find the fundamental factors, and learn from it.
Because, we may all be walking in front of that school bus.
I hope that the relevant authorities can issue a detailed report, or loosen the restrictions on the media, and answer the questions of public concern: Why did the customized bus driver crash into the students?
