On August 10th, Bilibili UP host “Zhang Bei Hai official” released a video titled “The Internet Doesn’t Trust Online Certificates and Network Numbers, History Remembers Henan Red Code.” The UP host stated in the video that they couldn’t trust the method to protect their personal privacy, and cited the incident of Henan bank depositors being assigned red codes during the pandemic, indicating that the public’s fear of public power’s wrongdoing often outweighs the fear of personal privacy leakage. The video sparked a strong reaction within the firewall. As of now, the video has been taken down, and the blogger has stated that they have been banned from speaking.
