On July 20th, news of the unfortunate passing of Dr. Li Sheng from the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University was released. Dr. Li was fatally wounded by a patient’s family member and, despite resuscitation efforts, passed away at 9:20 PM on the 19th. The assailant jumped from the building after the attack and died around 2 PM.
The hospital issued a statement mourning Dr. Li, and many colleagues also posted on their social media. The reason for Dr. Li’s attack is now clear: he was mistakenly targeted. The assailant’s actual target was another doctor, Dr. Zhou, whose information has also been exposed.
Doctor’s family, child not yet married
After Dr. Li Sheng’s death, the entire internet is filled with regret and sorrow. Because, whether in the eyes of patients or colleagues, Dr. Li was a gentle and dedicated doctor who sacrificed for his work.

The “not me” that Dr. Li shouted was because the assailant’s family member had a heart surgery performed by Dr. Zhou, a colleague, at Wenzhou First Affiliated Hospital 11 years ago, but the prognosis was not good. During that time, they had protested at the hospital with banners. On the morning of the 19th, the patient went for a follow-up checkup and felt there was no hope for further treatment, so she went back and committed suicide by jumping from the building.
The patient’s husband, the assailant, could not accept the reality of his wife’s death and believed that the doctor had delayed the treatment, so he wanted to seek revenge on Dr. Zhou. However, Dr. Zhou had gone to eat, and only Dr. Li was working overtime in the office. In this way, Dr. Li took the knife for his colleague, and the assailant jumped from the building after the incident. It’s likely that a case can’t even be filed, and Dr. Li’s death was completely in vain.
The information of Dr. Zhou has also been exposed. He is about the same age as Dr. Li, and unlike Dr. Li’s gentle appearance, Dr. Zhou wears glasses. Although he looks gentle, his eyes are sharp and very wise. Dr. Zhou is the chief physician of Dr. Li’s department and is very famous in the relevant field, and many patients have given him banners.
Dr. Zhou also participated in interview programs to popularize knowledge about heart disease to the audience, and can be said to be the representative and spokesperson of the department in the hospital.
