Last night (July 21st), Wang Di, a doctoral student at Renmin University of China, reported in a video with her real name that she was sexually harassed and forcibly molested by her advisor, Professor Wang Guiyuan, the Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Renmin University.
Wang Guiyuan, whose name has the character “Gui” (meaning “noble”), is a 65-year-old professor. He is senior, learned, high-ranking, and powerful. He is not only the Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Renmin University, but also holds important positions such as the editor-in-chief of the “Language and Literature Studies” of the Renmin University of China’s reprint journal, and a member of the editorial board of the “Research on Language and Characters of Jianbo”.
As an authority who has long studied philology and lexicology, Wang Guiyuan has published many monographs, including “Witches and Witchcraft”, “Research on the Structure of Han Characters in the Mawangdui Silk Book”, “Chinese Characters and Culture”, “New Edition of Shuowen Jiezi”, and “Chinese Characters and Historical Culture”.

Wang Di hopes that everyone can forward the video to their WeChat groups, QQ groups, and various groups. She said: “If it doesn’t spread, I will only have a dead end”.

I am reporting with my real name that my advisor – Professor Wang Guiyuan, the former Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Renmin University, sexually harassed and forcibly molested me on May 21, 2022, and demanded that I have sex with him.
Because I refused, he retaliated against me for more than two years and threatened that I could not graduate. For two years, Professor Wang has been pressing forward, and it is difficult to seek a comprehensive solution. At this moment, I can’t bear it anymore, and I have nowhere to retreat, so I speak out. On the evening of July 21st, after Renmin University of China noticed the online report about the alleged misconduct of our teacher Wang, we attached great importance to it and immediately established a working group to conduct an investigation and verification overnight.
Our school strictly adheres to the first standard of teacher ethics and style, and has “zero tolerance” for misconduct in teacher ethics and style. We will resolutely discover one case and deal with one case, and handle it strictly and quickly according to regulations, discipline, and law, and will never condone it. The school will announce the results of the investigation and handling in the near future.
