Mr. Zheng Shusen has long been engaged in liver, pancreas and multi-organ combined transplantation and basic and clinical research on hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. He is a well-known liver transplant expert in China; he also holds multiple academician positions, including Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the French National Academy of Medicine, and the American Institute of Medicine and Biological Engineering; he is also a professor of surgery at Zhejiang University, serving as the Deputy Director of the Medical Department of Zhejiang University and the President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

Recently, according to relevant media reports: the American journal “Science” once published an article stating that Zheng Shusen of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University published a research paper on liver transplantation in the online version of the journal “Liver International” in October 2016, which could not provide a legal source for 563 livers, and was therefore retracted, and was permanently banned from publishing papers in the journal by the editorial board of “Liver International”.

The American journal “Science” and the British journal “Nature” are the two most authoritative natural science publications in the world. “Retraction of Research Papers” was published in the “Science Insider” column of “Science”.

Mario Mondelli of the University of Pavia, Italy, is the editor-in-chief of the journal “Liver International”, and he personally confirmed the authenticity of this news.

This matter has attracted the attention and importance of relevant departments. In order to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of patients, relevant legislative work should be promoted as soon as possible.
