Following the article titled “New Breakthroughs Urgently Needed for Reform” published on November 11, Caixin Weekly today published an editorial titled “Reviewing the Thought Line of Seeking Truth from Facts.”
The article probably appeared on the internet this afternoon, and I was surprised to find that it is now difficult to find.
Although this shout expressed everyone’s common aspiration.
I wanted to say something about this, but it seems it would be futile, so it’s better to be sensible.
This article by Caixin, with its lengthy and extensive references, is actually just repeating some common sense knowledge.
The current national conditions are indeed quite complex, and no single prescription can cure all diseases.
The phased goals that need to be tackled in the future are also clear. To talk about the path to achieve them, no matter how many paths there are, ultimately, it is necessary to return to one point: respect common sense.
Respecting common sense means acknowledging that eating rice is better than eating bran;
Respecting common sense means acknowledging that being smooth is better than being twisted;
Respecting common sense means acknowledging that having a variety of opinions is better than speaking with one voice;
Respecting common sense means acknowledging that being liked by people is better than being disliked by everyone.
And so on, many more can be listed.
When common sense becomes a scarce resource, when the four words “seeking truth from facts” also become sensitive, what more can be said!
