Recently, it was reported online that a graduate of the Central Academy of Fine Arts was suspected of being charged with “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” after graffitiing on a nucleic acid testing booth.
The online message shows that Zhang Donghui, born in 1992, graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, “on August 17, 2022, wrote ‘I have been numb for three years’ on eight nucleic acid testing booths in Wangjing, Chaoyang District, Beijing.”
Zhang Donghui was suspected of being charged with picking quarrels and provoking trouble and is currently under criminal detention. According to online messages, Zhang Donghui “posted a screenshot on his WeChat Moments on August 21. He was taken away by the police from the Huajiadi Police Station on August 22. On August 23, the Chaoyang Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau criminally detained Zhang Donghui on suspicion of picking quarrels and provoking trouble. On the same day, the information about this WeChat Moments post was deleted, and the graffiti on the nucleic acid testing booth was covered.”
The online message claims that Zhang Donghui’s family has compensated the nucleic acid company for the loss and obtained a letter of understanding. However, “on November 24, the lawyer representing (Zhang Donghui) received a phone call from the prosecutor handling the case in Chaoyang District, and the call mentioned that Donghui’s behavior was basically characterized as picking quarrels and provoking trouble, and his behavior was considered to be arbitrarily damaging other people’s property, and he is expected to be sentenced to 6 to 8 months in prison.”
Whether the online message is true or not is still being verified.
The author contacted a friend of Zhang Donghui, who revealed that Zhang Donghui has been out of contact since August this year, “his friends around him don’t know either.”
Regarding the online message, he said, “I remember posting such a WeChat Moments post, and then there was no news. I guess he went in.”

He also revealed that Zhang Donghui’s social media software has not been updated since August this year.
