First published in 1999. This book collects a large number of editorials, articles, and speeches published by the Communist Party of China in the Xinhua Daily and other official media from 1941 to 1946. These documents mainly discuss issues such as democracy, freedom, the rule of law, and human rights.
The title “The Voice of History” is intended to point out that these speeches were the promises made by the CCP in its external propaganda to gain public support and legitimacy, but these promises were not fully fulfilled after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. By presenting these historical documents, the author hopes to provoke readers to reflect on the modern history of China and explore the inconsistency between the ruling party’s words and deeds in different periods.
“The Voice of History” is considered an important historical reference book, which reveals the propaganda strategies and political commitments of the Communist Party of China in different historical stages. Due to the sensitive topics involved in the book, it has been banned from publication and dissemination in mainland China.
