Ye Yong | The Real North Korea

The author of the book participated in a local North Korean tour group in Dandong as a tourist and wrote this travelogue. The author had also applied for a visa at the North Korean embassy in China but was unsuccessful [1][2]. The book observes the current situation in North Korea from the perspective of an ordinary Chinese tourist, introducing the peculiar social and political phenomena seen in North Korea, and publishing a large number of photos taken in North Korea, including many taken randomly on moving trains and buses. Because this behavior is not recognized by the North Korean authorities, the author has repeatedly argued with the tour guides and the North Korean security personnel accompanying the tour.
