Many readers may have seen the news of the Pingdingshan assault incident, and have also watched the video.
If you haven’t watched the video, I suggest you take a look. Because the severity of this matter can only be felt through the video.
Several keywords: on the street, targeting a 15-year-old girl (a minor), repeated beatings. This nature is not just ordinary beating, but a malicious incident in a public place with extremely bad influence and wantonness.
In the video, the man who beat the girl did not use ordinary “beating” methods, but repeatedly hit the girl’s head, which has seriously threatened the girl’s life. I don’t know what the final judicial determination will be, but the potential harm of this beating method is extremely great.

According to the report of The Paper:
On February 21, the People’s Government of Cibazhen, Jiaxian County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, reported a beating incident:
At 19:40 on February 19, 2026, Yang Mou and Ding Moulu of Cibazhen, Jiaxian County, had a quarrel due to a collision of electric two-wheeled vehicles. Yang Mou’s son Liu Moufei and daughter-in-law Han Mouna arrived at the scene and insulted and beat Ding Moulu’s sister Ding Moule and the people at the scene, Guo Mou, Zhang Moufan, and Xue Mouyuan. At present, the public security organ has taken criminal compulsory measures against the criminal suspects Liu Moufei and Han Mouna. The case is being further handled.
Previous reports:
According to Ding’s mother, her daughter had a quarrel with the other party when she went forward to ask, and then was beaten by the old man’s son with slippers and bricks, resulting in a fractured eyebrow bone, semi-coma, and impaired vision and hearing. After the incident, the girl was sent to the hospital for treatment, and the assailant has been detained by the police.
Combining some online information, the more detailed results of the incident are roughly restored as follows:
On the evening of February 19, 2026, 15-year-old girl Ding Moule and her younger brother were riding an electric bicycle on Dongpo East Road, Cibazhen, when they collided with the electric bicycle of the old man Yang Mou. The girl was continuously insulted by Yang Mou when she tried to communicate, and after she retorted, Yang Mou called his son Liu Moufei and daughter-in-law Han Mouna.
After Liu Moufei and his wife arrived at the scene, they did not ask about the situation and directly assaulted the girl: the man hit her head with a brick at least 3 times, and repeatedly slapped her face with slippers; the woman kicked her waist, causing the girl to fall to the ground and unable to stand. During the process, three passers-by who came forward to dissuade (including a lady holding a baby) were also beaten and insulted, and the baby was almost injured.
From this description, the assailant is quite rampant, and this degree of wantonness shows two points:
First, they are “very good at beating people”. Ordinary people find it difficult to hold bricks (which is a form of armed injury) and hit others’ heads, and repeatedly slap their faces with slippers. It seems that this couple, especially this man, seems to have a lot of experience in beating people. So, whether they have a criminal record, whether they are involved in organized crime, these are all things that need to be investigated and made public.
Second, their mentality is to disregard the law. It is now well known that the price of beating people is high. Ordinary people, even if they slightly touch someone in a conflict, will be very worried about being severely punished by the law, so they will restrain themselves, and few people dare to directly attack others.
But this couple seems to completely ignore the existence of the law. After arriving at the scene, they directly attacked the girl without asking the reason, and they were very heavy-handed. What kind of mentality and background made them so unscrupulous?
These questions and doubts have been questioned by many netizens online, and the investigation should also respond.
Otherwise, everyone on the road may worry about encountering such bullies, and face the danger of life if they disagree, which will only cause more worry and doubt.

There are many online comments pointing out that the assailant operates a bus route transportation business in the local area and has a criminal record of involvement in organized crime, and has a “deep background”. These questions need to be investigated and responded to.
As with the analysis above, the way and attitude of the assailant are not like ordinary people fighting, but are characterized by intentional attack, armed attack, and the couple acting together.
In addition, there is another particularly bad point: they even beat the people who tried to mediate.
We see that in the description of the incident, three passers-by who tried to mediate were almost beaten, and even one of the mothers and babies were almost injured.
Generally speaking, the assailant will not involve the people who try to mediate, and those who dare to directly attack the people who try to mediate often mean that they have a bully mentality behind them.
In this case, it is even more necessary to investigate the background of the assailant and respond to public doubts. Whether there is a criminal record of involvement in organized crime, and if so, whether it should be included in the later judicial sentencing factors, all need to be continuously concerned and responded to.

According to the “Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors” and relevant laws and regulations, violent injury and psychological harm to minors, especially in serious cases, have requirements and interpretations for heavier punishment.
The 15-year-old girl Ding Moule and her younger brother in the incident are both minors, so the assailant should be punished more severely.
In addition to physical injuries that require injury assessment, psychological injuries must not be ignored. For minors who have experienced this kind of violent incident, they are very likely to suffer huge and continuous shadows psychologically, and even cause post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which requires long-term psychological intervention and treatment.
This is because when a person experiences intense fear or is hurt, the brain will be in a state of “alert” for a long time, leading to abnormalities in the body and mind, such as repeatedly flashing back the scene of being hurt in the mind, insomnia, anxiety and physical reactions caused by excessive vigilance, and even leading to long-term personality changes – withdrawn, avoidant and insecure.
The psychological harm suffered by minors is particularly serious. Because minors are still in the psychological development period and the personality development period, the psychological harm caused by intentional public violence attacks at this time is usually greater than that of adults, more difficult to recover, and more likely to turn into long-term psychological problems.
All of these must be included in the subsequent judicial considerations, and the victims must also be given corresponding psychological support.
The most malicious point of this incident is still the violent beating in public places, and the “indiscriminate” beating and threats against the mediators. This public nature has seriously amplified its malicious impact.
But the local authorities remained silent for two days, and only responded after the incident fermented online. Why is this?
Under this attitude, it is even more necessary to ask: Can the rumors about the assailant’s background be investigated in a transparent and fair manner? Can the public’s doubts be responded to in a timely and effective manner?
Let us continue to pay attention.
