Bamboo Doesn’t Fall | The most absurd thing is not cheating, but that they don’t care about human lives at all!

After seeing the screenshots sent by netizens from the background, I realized that this was actually a gatekeeping incident disguised by “sexual scandals.” Although the problems hidden within are numerous and appalling, to be honest, I’m not at all surprised. Those who are exclaiming, you must be new here.

“Xiao Fei, the chief physician of the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital, was exposed for having affairs with a bunch of female subordinates, including female doctors and nurses…”

Everyone should have already seen the news, but you may not know that the “Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital” where the incident occurred is not just any ordinary place; its status is beyond doubt, one of the three directly affiliated hospitals of the National Health Commission.

Therefore, as this radish with a sexual scandal exterior is pulled out, the rotten mud of corruption will arrive sooner or later.

The first thing exposed was the news that Deputy Director Xiao Fei had affairs with a bunch of subordinates, such as nurse Shi and trainee doctor Dong. However, as soon as people blinked, their hearts felt like they had been pricked by a needle—this Ms. Dong, whom Xiao Fei was embracing, was actually an economics undergraduate who crossed over to become a doctor at the prestigious Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

With such a woman who combines genius and beauty, no wonder Director Xiao couldn’t control himself at all. Not only did he have to greet her and keep her in the thoracic surgery department, but even if he left the patients on the operating table for 40 minutes, he still had to embrace Ms. Dong to flirt.

What’s the big deal about playing with people’s lives? In his eyes, except for himself, the lives of others probably don’t even count as lives. Patients on the operating table probably have to burn incense in advance and pray to the Buddha for blessings, hoping that the doctor is in a good mood today and willing to come back and sew them up.

These absurd things can come together, it’s really not a family, not entering a family’s door.

Let me briefly say three points.

First, someone who studied economics, relying on their background, crossed over to the top hospitals in the country, which is obviously not just a problem of academic gatekeeping. You know, hospitals are different from other industries; the training period is three years, because it involves people’s lives.

And Ms. Dong’s ability to cross over like this reflects a complete disregard for the lives of patients. Whoever goes to her for treatment is unlucky.

But so what? They don’t care.

Ms. Dong’s father is the general manager of a state-owned enterprise, and her mother is a university leader. Even if she failed the Beijing college entrance examination, she was destined to be a genius, and she could enter one of the best hospitals in the country if she wanted. After spending a few years at a diploma mill in the United States, she could return to China to study in the 4+4 program at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and become a medical doctor in one year.

The meaning of gatekeeping is making the rules of ordinary people completely meaningless.

Ordinary people work hard for ten years to reach the threshold, while Ms. Dong snaps her fingers and directly enters the hall, and by the way, kicks the threshold twice, telling you that this threshold is for you fools to step on—those “fools” who won her in the college entrance examination.

You might be shocked, as if you’ve discovered a new way: then why bother with the college entrance examination? Wouldn’t it be easier for everyone to operate in this convenient way?

Hold on, it’s convenient, but the path has nothing to do with you and me. Can you afford the money for a three-year undergraduate degree in the United States? Even if you can afford it, and you come back after studying for three years, what’s the use? What if they say there are no spots left? You can’t even grab them.

This is the reality: the children of ordinary families, even if they exhaust half their lives, are not as good as some people who just move their fingers behind the scenes.

Furthermore, even if ordinary people enter such a hospital through their abilities and hard work, they are not at all comparable to Ms. Dong. The former is only worthy of enduring all the pain of a trainee, while someone like Ms. Dong is surrounded by stars.

Second, this Director Xiao, knowing that Ms. Dong is an outsider, doesn’t care at all. Anyway, he has the final say, so he keeps her. It doesn’t matter if she’s professional or not, and it doesn’t matter if she’s a patient or not. This is simply a standard configuration for him to leave the patients on the operating table for 40 minutes and enjoy himself.

After this incident was exposed, perhaps everyone also knows that although Director Xiao Fei has considerable energy, he probably won’t be able to cover everything this time, so they have been exposing information, including a large amount of fragmented content.

For example, trainee Ms. Dong’s chaotic operations on the operating table, colleagues who came in through the proper channels reminded her three times, but Ms. Dong only cared about chatting and was unmoved. As a result, after another reminder, Director Xiao directly exploded: Do you want me to take off the chest drainage bottle from the patient and you reconnect it?

The behavior goes without saying, just these words, can a person say them? If the patient lying in bed heard this, they would be scared to sweat. Have you treated the patients as human beings?

For example, a colleague said, “Aren’t there any other doctors in thoracic surgery?” Director Xiao went directly to the door of the operating room and roared: “Aren’t there any other nurses in the operating room?” I will not allow her to be scheduled for my surgery in the future.

He really loves her so much, even a human-shaped beast has reverse scales, you are not allowed to dislike this woman who knows nothing, because she was brought in by Director Xiao.

Third, although the trending searches have been suppressed, and the hospital has responded by “expelling Deputy Director Xiao Fei from the party and terminating his employment relationship,” the symptoms are frightening and make us speechless: around us, or in this environment, there is definitely more than one “Ms. Dong” who is taking the path of academic gatekeeping through this method, and there are countless others. And this time, Ms. Dong was, because of Deputy Director Xiao’s affair, brought into the spotlight and attracted people’s attention.

A casual glance is a royal flush, guess how many big and small kings are in that hand? The cards are produced by him, and the cards are first selected by him, how can you play with him?

On the poker table of power, the big and small kings are printed with the family’s surname, as for you and me—we may not even be able to afford a second deck.

The things that truly make people feel fear are never occasional scandals, but the deep-rooted things that have already permeated the bones and blood. The sexual scandal is just a fig leaf; after tearing it off, what is revealed is always boundless privilege and cold-bloodedness.

When the combination of academic gatekeeping and nepotism becomes the default ladder to heaven, when professionalism and life can be wantonly trampled upon in the face of power and relationships, then every ordinary person should feel some confusion and fear about the future.
