In the past few days, several media outlets have exposed that the People’s Hospital of Leiyang City, Hunan Province, turned away other citizens to accommodate physical examinations for retired veteran cadres.
According to reports from Benliu News, hospital staff explained that they refused others entry to the physical examination center because the veteran cadres “did not want others to compete with them for positions.” “The veteran cadres have high demands and a bad temper, and they need everyone’s tolerance.”

When interviewed, a staff member from the Organization Department of the Leiyang Municipal Party Committee “denied the rumors,” saying that the dialogue in the video was from June and was pieced together through editing, and it was not a physical examination for veteran cadres at all, but a physical examination for the recruitment of public institutions. The Organization Department could not possibly give a heads-up, close the venue for veteran cadres’ physical examinations and not allow others to have physical examinations, and there could be no special privileges.

Yesterday, in my article “These veteran cadres are really spoiled” I made a judgment: The Leiyang authorities denied this matter, but Benliu News has interview recordings as evidence, which clearly states that it is a physical examination for veteran cadres. Given that local officials have openly lied to deny facts and deceive the public in the past, I still tend to believe Benliu News, which has audio evidence.
Some readers criticized me, saying that since the Organization Department said it was not a physical examination for veteran cadres, why did I write it to attract attention and gain traffic.
Hehe, to be honest, I was a little hesitant after seeing the local Organization Department’s “denial of rumors” yesterday, worrying about writing the wrong article and criticizing the wrong people. But after thinking about it, I felt that the local Organization Department’s lying was more likely. After all, Benliu News interviewed the hospital, and the hospital said very clearly during the interview that it closed the physical examination center to accommodate physical examinations for retired veteran cadres.
Could it be that the People’s Hospital of Leiyang City has the guts to frame retired veteran cadres?
I think it’s possible, but it’s very unlikely. It’s more likely that the cadres of the Organization Department are lying to cover up the truth of “abusing privileges.” Therefore, after thinking and analyzing, I still chose to believe the report of Benliu News, and then published the article “These veteran cadres are really spoiled“.
This morning, a reader from Leiyang sent me a video taken at the People’s Hospital of Leiyang City the day before yesterday. The person who took the video also said: To accommodate the physical examination for veteran cadres, others are not allowed to enter.

In order to verify the accent of the person in the video, I specifically asked a former colleague from the newspaper to “identify” it. She is from Leiyang, and she immediately confirmed that it was the Leiyang accent.
This video further proves that the People’s Hospital of Leiyang City did recently have physical examinations for veteran cadres and turned away others. The Organization Department of the Leiyang Municipal Party Committee said that it was actually a physical examination for the recruitment of public institutions in June, which is purely confusing the public.
I am not the first time to find that officials of the grassroots Organization Department are lying.
I gave an example in the article ““The threshold for news is low” is just an illusion|News Practice“.
In the summer of 2017, some institutional media questioned the age of Yin Moumou, the then deputy county magistrate of Dancheng County, Zhoukou City, Henan Province. In June of that year, Yin Moumou was appointed as the deputy county magistrate of the county. The official website of the county government, the resume of Yin Xueming, stated that Yin Moumou was born in February 1969 and started working in January 1984. Public opinion believed that Yin Moumou was less than 15 years old when he started working, and his resume age was very suspicious.
After the media questioned it, the then-member of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee and Minister of the Organization Department came forward to tell the media that Yin’s age was not a problem, and it was a mistake made by the staff of the government website. Yin Moumou was actually born in February 1967.
The Minister of the Organization Department came forward to take the blame, and the reporters dispersed. But I soon discovered that when Yin Moumou was the deputy county magistrate of Huaiyang County, he had caused a traffic accident that resulted in a woman’s miscarriage, and the other party sued him in court. The court’s judgment recorded Yin Moumou’s age as February 1969.
This detail in the judgment is enough to prove that before Yin took office in Dancheng County, what was announced was “born in February 1969”, which was definitely not a mistake made by the staff of the government website. The minister’s words were purely a lie to cover up the truth and deceive the media after this matter caused doubts. Therefore, I later wrote an article criticizing the Organization Department: Did Deputy County Magistrate Yin deceive the organization, or did the organization help Deputy County Magistrate Yin deceive everyone?
The member of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee and the Minister of the Organization Department would lie to the media to conceal the truth, and the others in the Organization Department would naturally be even less likely to tell the truth.
Facts prove that the so-called denial of rumors by the Leiyang Municipal Party Committee Organization Department is actually a lie. This rumor-denying thing has been completely stigmatized by them. Everyone, how can you make us dare to believe your rumor denials in the future?
Lying will always leave loopholes and leave sequelae. Let’s take another look at the sentence “It is impossible to have this kind of privilege” said by the people of the Leiyang Municipal Party Committee Organization Department. Now it is proved that the physical examination for veteran cadres turning away others has indeed happened, so is it determined that it is “abusing privileges”, and how to deal with the veteran cadres?
In the era of the internet, everyone has a camera to take photos and videos. Public officials disregard the facts and speak lies, which is easy to be slapped in the face.
