Constructive Opinions|The official report on “Naked Child” doesn’t say what’s inconvenient, we need to understand the implications

On November 11th, the joint working group of Dali Prefecture and Nanjian County, Yunnan Province, reported on the investigation of the previously rumored “wild child” and “dog-like child”, but they used the label “naked child”.

I carefully read the text report and the accompanying video. I basically agree with the core facts of the report, such as the biological parents, no cult, and no video for profit.

However, everyone should also understand the limitations of the “official report”. Some things are impossible for the official to say, and some things the local government doesn’t want to say. This can only be understood through the details of the description to understand the implication.

1. The child was in a naked state for most of the time before, and only got used to wearing clothes a few days before the report, but the report can only say that it is much better now.

In the report, Xiao Wang, a staff member of the Civil Affairs Bureau, said that the child’s changes have been obvious these days, he has gotten used to wearing clothes and shoes, and is more and more willing to communicate with people.

Everyone should understand these words. The official’s focus is on “looking forward”, telling everyone that the child has improved greatly under the government’s assistance and intervention. But from another perspective, it can also prove that the child only got used to wearing clothes and shoes and started to communicate with people a few days before the report.

Obvious changes mean completely different from before;

Having gotten used to wearing clothes and shoes means resisting wearing them before;

Being more and more willing to communicate with people means refusing to communicate with people before.

Even, nearly a month after the intervention, the child still hasn’t completely gotten used to wearing shoes. In the published video, a staff member takes the child to play with sand and reminds him not to get his shoes dirty, and the child’s first reaction is to take off his shoes.

The self-statement of the child’s father, Li, also confirms that “the child has not been wearing clothes for a long time” is a fact.

Regarding the online questioning about “never letting the child wear clothes”, Li said that this is not the case. “Pingping had eczema and didn’t like to wear clothes when the weather was warm, but he would also take the initiative to find clothes to wear when he felt cold, and he never got sick because of the cold.”

Everyone is familiar with this way of refuting rumors. “Never letting the child wear clothes” is a rumor, because occasionally the child will take the initiative to find clothes to wear when he can’t stand the cold. But the focus of everyone’s concern has always been why the 3-and-a-half-year-old child didn’t wear clothes most of the time.

2. The child often crawls on all fours like a dog, but because no external injuries were found, the report, based on outdated concepts, believes that there is no abuse.

Relevant personnel of the joint working group introduced that after investigation by the public security organs, combined with witness testimony, medical identification, and daily behavioral observation, it was confirmed that Li and Wan had no abuse of the child.

Dali’s investigation into “whether there is child abuse” has a basic logic, which is to check whether the child has external injuries through medical examination. This is the logic of the “Criminal Law”, which is correct, but it is far from enough!

The reason why China formulated a “Law on the Protection of Minors” separately from the “Criminal Law” is because the “Criminal Law” protects a person’s minimum rights and restricts those significantly brutal violent acts, while the protection and care needed by minors are far above the standards of the “Criminal Law”.

The absence of external injuries can be presumed that there is no physical assault, but according to a normal person’s simple understanding, isn’t it both physical and mental abuse to let a child crawl naked and eat on the ground for a long time?

However, China’s “Anti-Domestic Violence Law” has a clear definition of domestic violence:

Domestic violence as referred to in this law means physical, mental, etc. infringement acts committed between family members by means of beating, tying, harming, restricting personal freedom, and frequent verbal abuse and intimidation.

If according to this definition, the parents may not really constitute child abuse and domestic violence…

3. The child can still be saved and can return to society after intervention, but the current state is actually not very good, but the report is more inclined to show the work results and report good news but not bad news.

Like everyone else, I am very concerned about the child’s current situation and worry about whether he has left irreversible physical and mental damage. Judging from the report, fortunately, the child is generally still salvageable. Unfortunately, the child’s current behavioral development is actually not very good.

The report records a scene:

“This is a rabbit, and a fish.” Under the guidance of Xiao Wang, a staff member of the county Civil Affairs Bureau, he carefully painted with a brush stroke by stroke.

However, if we go to see the video attached to the report, we will find that Pingping, who is 3 and a half years old, has no ability to paint with a pen at all.

In the video, the staff of the Civil Affairs Bureau are painting, and Pingping is even “grabbing” the pen, and does not have any painting skills at all.

It can only be said that it is very fortunate that the child’s sociality has not been completely extinguished, and he can participate in interpersonal communication and games, and there is still the possibility of normal education.

The official report, out of consideration of appeasing public opinion and showing work results, is more about reporting good news but not bad news. I can only say that I understand but do not agree with this.

4. This family is very difficult to deal with and does not cooperate with the work, but the official report is not convenient to directly complain about them.

How difficult is this family to deal with? In fact, some detailed information in the report has already hinted at the crazy complaints of the working group.

The report introduced that on October 17th, the joint working group rushed to Sichuan to find Li and Wan’s family, and found them at about 7 a.m. on the 18th. After persuasion, their family returned to Nanjian County with the joint working group on the 21st.

The family was found early on the 18th, and the working group, a large group of government staff, took 3 days of “persuasion” before they agreed to return to Nanjian County together.

The report introduced that when the staff helped correct the child’s behavior, they occasionally said a relatively harsh word to the child, and both (parents) would show an unhappy expression.

The report also introduced that the joint working group properly settled Li and Wan’s family and arranged a team of 14 professionals to accompany them.

You can imagine what kind of family needs 14 staff members to accompany them? What difficulties did these staff members face during the accompaniment?

In the report, the child’s father and grandfather, in addition to self-defense, called on everyone to “let them go”, and did not admit a single word of wrong from beginning to end, and even used hand-washing diapers to show their merits.

The report introduced that the child’s father, Li, recently wrote a passage of his thoughts on his mobile phone: “The development of the matter to the present, is not what we want, and even more unexpected. I apologize to all netizens, relevant departments and all sectors of society who care about and pay attention to this matter.”

I’ll highlight the key points. First, this paragraph was written on a mobile phone. Second, the wording of this paragraph is appropriate and complete, which can only be done by people who have been writing for a long time.

So I said that this family did not admit a single word of wrong from beginning to end, which is not to wrong them.

The report also introduced that the mother, Wan, did not intervene or discipline the child’s naked crawling behavior, and Li also listened to Wan’s opinion and did not intervene in the child’s behavior.

Highlight the key points, the father Li listened to the mother Wan’s opinion.

The report introduced that the provincial, prefectural, and county medical teams also conducted medical health examinations and psychological health assessments on Li and Wan. The results showed that: Li is in good health, and his spirit and psychology are normal. Wan is stubborn and unwilling to communicate and communicate with people, and has a strong sense of self.

Highlight the key points, the child’s father has the assessment results of normal spirit and psychology, but the child’s mother does not have such assessment results. Obviously, the mental assessment of Wan has not been completed.

More importantly, as the child’s mother, Wan has never been interviewed by reporters from beginning to end, and has not said a single “soft word” to the working group that is suitable to be disclosed in the report.

Not a single one.

After the working group withdraws, what will be the attitude and performance of this family? I really dare not imagine…

I understand that the report did not directly complain about this family, and the official statement is not suitable to do so. I deeply sympathize with the members of the joint working group during their time with this family.

5. The report says that this family has not contacted or joined any cult, which does not mean that they have not been brainwashed by strange organizations.

The report directly responded to the netizens’ questions about cults. The public security organs introduced that Li and Wan have no history of contact with cults, and no participation in cult organizations was found.

Here I fully believe in the working ability of the public security organs. If there is a “cult organization” behind it, it can definitely be found out.

However, please note that since the 1980s, China has only identified 25 types of cult organizations, and there is a clear list.

According to the working rules of the grassroots public security departments, if it is not a religious organization or “body and mind” institution on the above list, it will not be directly identified as a cult organization.

Therefore, the public security department ruled out the parents’ participation in cult organizations, which can only mean that they did not participate in the above 25 organizations, and does not mean that they have not been brainwashed by other strange institutions.

Based on the extreme behavior of these two people in raising children and their resistant attitude towards external intervention, I personally strongly suspect that they are influenced by the brainwashing of certain “body and mind” institutions that have become popular in recent years. I suggest that the public security organs thoroughly investigate and crack down!

Finally, I strongly appeal:

Please, please don’t throw the child back to these parents to raise alone!

Absolutely not!!!
