
According to a report from Zheng Yi Net on December 12: Recently, the case of Mao Qi, the former secretary of the Wannian County Party Committee of Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, who was suspected of the crime of bribery, was concluded by the Jiangxi Provincial Supervision Commission and transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution. With the designation of jurisdiction by the Jiangxi Provincial People’s Procuratorate, the Xinyu Municipal People’s Procuratorate filed a public prosecution with the Xinyu Intermediate People’s Court in accordance with the law. The case is being further handled. During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial organs informed the defendant Mao Qi of his litigation rights in accordance with the law, and questioned the defendant and listened to the opinions of the defense lawyer.
The Xinyu Municipal People’s Procuratorate charged: The defendant Mao Qi, taking advantage of his positions as the director of the Shangrao Municipal Party Committee’s Leading Group Office for Talent Work (concurrently serving as a member of the Standing Committee of the Wannian County Party Committee, deputy county head, and secretary of the Party Committee of Wangjia Township, Wannian County), deputy secretary of the Wannian County Party Committee, county head, and secretary of the Wannian County Party Committee, to seek benefits for others, and taking advantage of the convenience created by his power and position, through the actions of other state staff, to seek undue benefits for others, illegally accepted property from others, the amount was particularly large, and should be held criminally responsible for the crime of bribery in accordance with the law.

Upon investigation: Mao Qi, as a leading cadre of the Party, lost his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original mission, was disloyal and dishonest to the Party, played double-dealing, and was two-faced; violated the spirit of the Central Committee’s Eight-Point Regulations, accepted banquets and tourism arrangements that may affect the fair execution of official duties; violated organizational discipline, did not truthfully explain the problem when the organization inquired, illegally sought benefits for others in cadre personnel work; violated the discipline of integrity, engaged in power-for-power transactions, illegally accepted gifts and cash; violated the discipline of life, and had improper sexual relations with others; engaged in large-scale power-for-money transactions, used his position to seek benefits for others in engineering contracting, fund allocation, etc., and illegally accepted a huge amount of property. Mao Qi seriously violated the Party’s political discipline, organizational discipline, discipline of integrity, and discipline of life, constituted serious violations of duty and was suspected of the crime of bribery, and did not restrain himself after the 18th National Congress of the Party, the nature was serious, the impact was bad, and seriously damaged the image of the ranks of Party members and cadres, and should be dealt with seriously. … It was decided to give Mao Qi the punishment of expulsion from the Party and expulsion from public office, and the suspected criminal issues were transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution in accordance with the law.

On November 14, 2024, the Hengfeng County People’s Court publicly pronounced the first-instance judgment on the bribery case of Li Peixia, the former secretary of the Party Committee of Shangfang Township, Wannian County, sentencing the defendant Li Peixia to three years in prison for the crime of bribery, and a fine of RMB 200,000, and confiscating the property obtained from bribery, and handing it over to the state treasury……
