In 2011, a female master’s student in engineering with schizophrenia went missing from her home. When her family found her 13 years later, the official report described her 13-year experience as “being taken in by a resident of a certain town, Mr. Zhang.””
Not only did they use “taken in,” but reports also said that “the person who took her in was honest and simple.”
I don’t understand how the author could write these words to glorify the crime; my prefrontal cortex is cramping. Since that’s the case, why not describe his difficult life, strive for self-improvement, and create a perfect persona, making the “good deeds” clear?
A schizophrenic woman who went missing, unable to seek help for 13 years, suddenly gained the ability to love and give birth after meeting a good person.
An honest and simple man saved a wandering, dangerous, and unidentified female master’s student. Isn’t it just a matter of the whole country giving him a banner and then being on “Touching China”?

What’s even more incredible is that the kind-hearted person reportedly reported the female master’s student when he “picked” her up, but because she was mentally ill and couldn’t communicate normally, the “police report” was dropped…
According to my memory, 2011 wasn’t the old society, right? That year, the country issued a smoking ban in public places, the J-20 successfully conducted a test flight, “News Documentary” began broadcasting on CCTV-13, the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway was put into operation… The civilization level and the quality of the people of the whole society were rapidly improving, and the technological power and public security strength were not to be underestimated. However, when the local police encountered a missing woman, they didn’t have any ability to investigate and settle her.
She has mental problems, but you don’t!
I’m guessing that the “kind-hearted person” also asked the female master’s student, “Who are you, where are you from, and where are you going”… But patients with mental illness really can’t answer these philosophical questions, so the “kind-hearted person” became even more “kind-hearted.” Since reporting to the police didn’t work, and asking was useless, he simply “kept her to have children for me.”
The amazing thing is that in our country, where “household registration status is more important than anything,” this family allowed this female master’s student, whose origin and destination were unknown, to live peacefully, becoming a “black household” for 13 years, and even gave birth to children.
During this period, they went through seven population censuses, but they didn’t find that there was a woman with an unclear identity.
No one in the local area even suspected that this was called “illegal detention,” nor did anyone understand that “the sexual rights of the mentally ill are also protected.”
Article 236 of the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China, anyone who knowingly has sexual relations with a mentally ill person, regardless of whether violence or coercion is used, shall be convicted of rape.
Do you understand? Even if the person didn’t refuse or resist, this “kind-hearted person” having sexual relations with a mentally ill person he didn’t know could at least be classified as rape!
How can they use “taken in” and “honest and simple” to glorify it?

Let’s just say, in addition to being shocked, can we appeal for a small regulation, which is “if you pick up a person, you must return them; if you can’t return them, you must hand them over to the state; if you really can’t hand them over, you can’t occupy them yourself.” If not, can you just put them back where you found them? Their family will find them themselves.
It’s not like picking up a stray dog or cat, taking it back and taking care of it, and people will praise you for being kind, generous, and loving.
You picked up a living person, even if they have schizophrenia, even if you didn’t handle it well after reporting to the police, at least a phone call from the police could call the mentally ill person to the place they should go, where they can receive treatment and wait for their family to claim them.
Instead of being casually “taken in” by an “honest person.”
Besides, what kind of “taking in” is this? Giving birth to so many children.
Is this specifically picking up “women of childbearing age”? If he sees a mentally ill, lost elderly woman or man outside, will he be so kind and so willing to “take them in”?
Now her eldest son is 12 years old. Counting on my fingers, plus the year of pregnancy, this means she got pregnant from the year she was “taken in.”
A woman with mental illness, who has not received treatment for a long time, and doesn’t know what she experienced in this unfamiliar “kind-hearted person’s” home, is now seeking help because her condition is getting worse. Is it because the state subsidies for the mentally ill are not enough? Anyway, she has sons and daughters, and doesn’t want to keep this woman who has been ill for a long time?
To put it bluntly, isn’t this illegal detention + abduction + rape? Which one doesn’t fit.
If this matter can really be characterized as “taken in,” then I can only say, girls, take care of yourselves in the future.
If you are accidentally “picked up” by some “kind-hearted person” and are tortured into a mental illness, and then he says he is showing mercy by “taking you in”…
I dare not think about it, but such a thing that I dare not think about has now actually happened.

Malicious incidents against women are really easily covered up by many things that have been “beautified,” especially when it is related to mental illness, it seems like they are “giving charity” to women no matter what they do.
Therefore, mental illness can become the most advantageous weapon for criminals to obtain what they want, the most important of which is to plunder these women’s sexual consent and reproductive rights.
If a man has a mental illness, they probably wouldn’t “kindly take him in” even if they were beaten to death.
The rule of law awareness in rural areas is so backward, I find it hard to understand, but I feel it is reasonable. I dare say that many women in this place know how this female master’s student was “taken in,” but they don’t say anything, and no one dares to interfere.
So the tragic female master’s student has come to this point today, not just because of the “kindness” of that “kind-hearted person,” but probably because there are many “kind-hearted people” in the whole environment.
Facing such a “characterization,” it really makes people feel very cold. Maybe from now on, I will have PTSD when I see the words “taken in” and “honest and simple.”
I can only say, parents of all girls, really take good care of your children, educate them enough in advance, know that anything can happen in some dark corners of society, so you must cherish yourself, improve your awareness of prevention, maintain physical and mental health, and don’t go on any unique travels. Safety is always the first priority.
