News of 69 children in a kindergarten in Tianshui suffering from lead poisoning, official media are reporting that the blood lead test results from local hospitals differ from those in Xi’an hospitals by dozens of times.
When tested locally in Tianshui, all the children were “healthy”, but when tested at a large hospital in Xi’an, they showed lead poisoning, with 60 children having moderate lead poisoning and 1 child having severe poisoning.

How could this happen?
The official media stopped there, and it’s understandable that they are not convenient to make a definitive statement. I am a science popularization blogger, and I will speak directly:
The reason why the test results are different is because someone in Tianshui wanted to suppress the lead poisoning of multiple children and instructed the hospital to provide false test results.
The reason why I say this so firmly is not a guess, nor is it based on experience, but rather based on scientific principles and logic.
First, blood lead concentration does not fluctuate drastically in a short period of time.
Everyone has the experience of fasting before a physical examination, because many indicators of blood tests fluctuate rapidly. The most significant impact of eating is blood sugar. The blood sugar levels of diabetics before and after meals may differ by several times. Also, the results of blood pressure and heart rate will have significant differences at different times of the morning, noon, and evening.
But blood lead concentration does not fluctuate like this!
Lead, as a toxic heavy metal component, is a substance that the human body does not need at all. Correspondingly, after lead enters the human body, it is also difficult to excrete it through normal metabolic pathways. Once it accumulates to a toxic concentration, it will continue to harm health for a long time. In other words, blood lead does not decrease quickly.
At the same time, apart from large-dose poisoning, the speed of normal lead intake from the environment, drinking water, and food cannot quickly cause a surge in blood lead concentration. In other words, blood lead concentration will not rise quickly.
Therefore, drawing blood to measure blood lead concentration in the morning, noon, and evening of a day, or even measuring blood lead concentration yesterday, today, and tomorrow, is theoretically almost the same.
Second, the method of detecting blood lead will not have a large error.
Currently, medical institutions in our country detect human blood lead concentration based on the GBZ/T 316.2—2018 standard issued by the National Health Commission, which uses inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for measurement. Whether it is a hospital in Tianshui, Xi’an, or Beijing, they all use this method and this standard.

You may not have a concept of the high precision of mass spectrometry detection. Let’s look at the error data introduced in the above standard:
The average deviation of blood lead concentration detected by this method relative to the standard is 0.6%—2.43%.
Even if the test results of the Tianshui hospital are as low as -2.43%, and even if the test results of the Xi’an hospital are as high as 2.43%, the difference between the two results will not exceed 5%.
It is impossible for the result measured in Tianshui to be a single digit, while the result measured in Xi’an is 232µg/L, a huge difference.

This cannot be a detection error, absolutely impossible.
Excluding natural fluctuations and excluding detection errors, then there is only one possibility left for the test results that differ by dozens of times:
The test results were artificially interfered with.
I have no evidence to say who specifically interfered, but these people (or beasts) are definitely from Tianshui, that’s for sure. Only they have the motivation to maintain stability, and only they have the most significant interest association.
As Chinese people, we are all familiar with the thinking of maintaining stability, and even many of those who are being maintained have subconsciously accepted this set of theories.
But everything has a boundary, there must be a limit. You can maintain stability in other matters, but you are also willing to maintain stability in the lead poisoning of dozens of kindergarten children. It really exceeds my imagination of the evil of human nature.
Even if you take a step back, you maintain stability with the parents, tell them not to make the matter public, quietly treat the children’s illnesses, detoxify them, and settle the case with some compensation, I can still understand.
Here is a bottom line: maintaining stability is maintaining stability, but the bottom line is that you have to let the parents understand the poisoning situation of their children, whether they have lead poisoning, how deep the poisoning is, and how to treat and remedy it. You can’t make any jokes about this, and you can’t be careless.
Now it’s good, the test data has been changed from the source, and the blood lead test results of the children are all qualified. Can this be regarded as if nothing happened?!
Those are 69 (and possibly more) angel babies in kindergarten! How can you bear to let these angel babies continue to be harmed by lead poisoning?

If there is still a trace of humanity left, you wouldn’t do this.
The reality is that there is not a trace left.
